FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waterville Search - Oneida County

01-16-08

Several members of the Wilderness SAR team recently assisted NYSP and DEC Forest Rangers in a search for a missing 47 y/o male in Waterville, NY.   Greg Williams was reported missing after leaving his home at approximately 8am New Year’s Day to go coyote hunting and he did not return.   WSAR, along with several other Federation SAR teams, was called to assist on January 6th and 7th and then again on January 12th.  WSAR members searched both residential and wilderness areas around where Mr. Williams resided and where he was known to hunt, with negative results.   The going was tough at times, with search areas that were swampy and/or rugged terrain. The current search was terminated at the close of operations on Saturday, with the possibility of continued efforts in the spring.  Thanks to the following people who assisted in this search:  Jason Baleno, Brian Berlin, Trish Jubinville, Jim Lambie, Mike Pellizzari, Michael Salter, Kathy Sikora and Rob Winter.    And a special thanks from the DEC Command to Jeff Sikora who overcame obstacles to manage the much needed communications effort for this mission.
